Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day 1: Marrakech » High Atlas Mountains » Ouarzazate » Zagora Desert[354Km]

On the first day of our 2 days desert tour Marrakech to Zagora, your adventure commences after breakfast. Departing from your Marrakech hotel or riad, we journey through the captivating High Atlas mountains, including the renowned Tizi N'Tichka pass, which stands at an elevation of 2260 meters. The vistas of valleys and Berber villages perched along the mountain slopes are truly breathtaking, often appearing as an integral part of the natural landscape. After descending from the pass, our route leads us to Ouarzazate, where a refreshing lunch break awaits.

Continuing our expedition, we cross another, slightly smaller pass, Tizi N'Tinfifite, before descending into the Draa Valley towards Agdez. En route, we trace the ancient caravan path nestled between mountains and the river, offering a glimpse into the traditional oasis lifestyle with its villages and lush gardens. Our journey ultimately brings us to the Zagora desert, where you'll embark on a mesmerizing camel ride to witness the enchanting sunset. As the day draws to a close, we enjoy a delightful dinner in the dunes at a nomadic tent camp, marking the first night of your 2-day tour from Marrakech to Zagora, promising an unforgettable overnight camel trek in Zagora.

  • Day 2: Zagora Desert » Ouarzazate » Ait Ben Haddou » Marrakech[374Km]

On the following day, for those early risers, a stunning sunrise unveils a captivating interplay of shadows on the sand dunes, offering a truly enchanting sight. After indulging in breakfast and refreshing with a shower at the Berber camp, we embark on our journey northward via an alternative route. Departing from Ouarzazate, we diverge from the main road to Marrakech, steering towards the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a kasbah of great renown, celebrated as one of Morocco's most iconic landmarks. This historic site has served as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood blockbusters and holds a significant place in the history of ancient caravan routes, facilitating the trade of slaves, gold, ivory, and salt from sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakech and beyond.

Our route then takes us along the modern road to Telouet Kasbah, once belonging to the powerful El-Glaoui family, the Lords of the Atlas. Now in ruins, it bears the marks of a bygone era when the last Pasha fled the country following the departure of the French colonialists. The return journey to Marrakech follows the main road, offering glimpses of Berber villages nestled alongside the river and amidst the mountains. Occasionally, we descend into verdant valleys along the riverbanks adorned with oleander and fruit trees. These fertile gardens yield a bounty of olives, walnuts, pomegranates, apples, pears, and quinces. In this picturesque landscape, Berber women and children tend to their flocks of goats and sheep, scaling even the steepest slopes in search of fodder and firewood.

Our 2 days tour from Marrakech to Zagora culminates as we arrive in Marrakech during the early evening, concluding a memorable and enriching journey.
