Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day 1: Fes » Middle Atlas » Merzouga Desert » Camel trek[476Km]

We'll come to your hotel or riad to start your 3-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech. We'll leave Fez and head towards Ifrane, a charming mountain village often called "the Switzerland of Morocco". Then, we'll continue to Midelt. Along the way, you'll get to see the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Our next stop is Azrou, a small Berber village in a big cedar forest, the largest one in Morocco. You might even spot some Barbary apes while we're there. After spending some time in the forest, we'll keep going through the beautiful hills and mountains of the Atlas until we reach Midelt.

Once we're past Midelt, we'll travel through the stunning Tizi N'Talghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge. You'll get to see the High Atlas plateau and notice how the landscape changes as we get closer to Errachidia. That's where we'll stop for lunch and enjoy some Berber hospitality. Then, we'll follow the lush Ziz Valley, making stops for fantastic views on our way to Erfoud and Rissani. In the afternoon, we'll arrive in Merzouga.

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted with a refreshing glass of mint tea. Then, you'll hop on a camel guided by an experienced camel handler to explore the golden dunes of Merzouga. In the evening, dinner will be served in front of your tent, where you'll spend the night in the desert. You can also enjoy some Berber music.

  • Day 2: Merzouga Desert » Rissani Market » Todra Gorges » Dades Valley[268Km]

If you're in the middle of the desert, waking up early is a great idea. You won't want to miss the breathtaking sunrise from the top of a tall sand dune near the camp. It's a natural gift you won't forget. After enjoying this amazing sight, we'll head back to the camp for a tasty breakfast. Then, we'll ride camels back to where we started.

Once we leave the desert for Rissani, we'll visit the local market (open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday). Next, we'll head to Erfoud, where we can see how they make marble from fossils. After that, we'll make our way to Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves. About an hour later, we'll arrive at one of the best spots in the High Atlas Mountains, the Todra Gorges. The river has carved out a stunning canyon with tall cliffs, and it's a popular place for rock climbers.

You'll have some free time to have lunch in this beautiful setting. Taking a short walk through the gorges is a great idea to fully appreciate the stunning scenery. In the afternoon, we'll continue to the Dades Valley, also known as the Figs Valley. As we pass through Boumalne Dades, we'll make a stop at the "monkey legs" - a unique formation. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Dades Gorges.

  • Day 3: Dades Valley » Ouarzazate » Ait Benhaddou Kasbah » High Atlas » Marrakech[345Km]

After breakfast, we can enjoy a fantastic view of the Dades Valley from a lookout in the mountains. It's a great spot to see all the kasbahs and their unique features. Then, we'll continue along a road with different interesting kasbahs to explore. We'll make some stops to enjoy the scenic "One Thousand Kasbahs Road", and also pass through the Roses Valley and the big Skoura palm grove.

Our next destination is Ouarzazate, where we'll visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, which used to be the home of the Glaoui or Marrakech Pasha. If you're interested, we can also check out the cinema studios and the cinema museum. Half an hour from Ouarzazate, we'll visit the Ait Benhaddou Ksar, a fortified village with the famous Kasbah, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. This place has been the backdrop for many famous movies like Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, and more. You'll have some free time for lunch in town.

In the afternoon, we'll begin our journey to Marrakech, passing through the Tizi N'Tichka mountain pass with a few stops for pictures. As we leave behind the moon-like landscape, we'll enter an area bursting with colors. We'll reach Marrakech around 6 PM, where we'll drop you off at your hotel, and that's the end of our 3-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga.
