Detailed Day Wise Itinerary
-
Day 1: Tangier » Chefchaouen » Fes[312Km]
After enjoying breakfast, we'll set out on a journey to the picturesque town of Chefchaouen. Along the way, we'll pass through the Amazigh city of Tetouan, known for its charming Moorish architecture. Chefchaouen, often referred to as Chaouen derives its name from the two mountains that embrace it. Historically, it served as a main base for Berber tribes resisting Spanish colonization.
Continuing our exploration, we'll proceed to the renowned city of Fez, making a noteworthy stop at ancient Roman ruins. Here, a guide will lead us through the marvelous ancient town. Our route also includes a visit to the sacred town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. Journeying through green landscapes and olive tree forests, we'll pause to admire the panoramic view of Sidi Chahed Lake before concluding our day.
For the night, we'll rest in Fez at a comfortable Riad or Hotel.
-
Day 2: Fez » Ifrane » Cedar Forest » Ziz Gorges » Merzouga Desert[465Km]
After having breakfast, we'll start on a journey along the scenic southeast road. You'll notice a striking change in the scenery, transitioning from the lush fields of Fes to the cedar-filled and cool surroundings of Ifrane, often hailed as the most beautiful city in Morocco. Our drive continues, revealing a more desert-like landscape as we approach the town of Midelt, known as the Apple Capital of Morocco. Heading further south, we'll reach the gem of the south, the town of Merzouga.
Here, you'll have the unique experience of an overnight camel trek under the clear desert sky, nestled in nomad tents at a camp in the heart of the desert. It's an opportunity to connect with your inner self and immerse yourself in the tranquil surroundings.
-
Day 3: Merzouga Desert » Rissani Market » Erfoud » Todra Gorges » Dades Valley[269Km]
If you find yourself in the heart of the desert, waking up early is a must. Catching the sunrise from the top of a tall dune near the camp is a breathtaking experience, a natural gift that's worth getting up for. After savoring this beautiful sight, you'll have your breakfast and hop on a camel back to return to the same spot where the car initially dropped you off (or you can choose to return by car).
Our journey then takes us to Rissani, where we'll explore the market (open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). From there, we'll head to Erfoud, where you can check out the fossilized marble factories before making our way to Touroug and Tinejdad palm groves. An hour later, we'll arrive at one of the most stunning spots in the High Atlas, the Todra Gorges. The river has carved out a magnificent canyon, popular among climbers for its high rock sides.
Take some free time to enjoy lunch in this fantastic place, and a short walk through the gorges is highly recommended to fully appreciate the beauty of the landscape. In the afternoon, our journey continues to the Dades Valley, also known as the Figs Valley. Passing through Boumalne Dades, we'll make a stop at the "monkey legs" formation. Dinner and a night's stay await at the Dades Gorges.
-
Day 4: Dades Valley » Ouarzazate » Ait Benhaddou » High Atlas » Marrakech[345Km]
After breakfast, we can soak in a fantastic view of the Dades Valley from a strategic mountain lookout. It's a great spot to take in the numerous kasbahs and appreciate the unique features of each one. Our journey continues along a road adorned with various kasbahs of tourist interest, allowing us to make stops and enjoy the picturesque "One Thousand Kasbahs Road".
Passing through the Roses Valley and the expansive Skoura palm grove, we'll reach Ouarzazate to explore the Kasbah of Taourirt, once the residence of the Glaoui or Marrakech Pasha. For those interested, there's an option to visit the cinema studios and the cinema museum. Thirty minutes from Ouarzazate, we'll pause at the Ksar (fortified village) of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. This iconic location has been featured in famous films like Game of Thrones, Gladiator, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penélope Cruz.
Enjoy some free time for lunch in town before we head to Marrakech in the afternoon, passing through the mountain pass of Tizi N'Tichka with scenic stops for photos. As we leave behind the moon-like landscape, we enter another colorful panorama. Anticipate arriving in Marrakech around 6 pm, where we'll transfer to the hotel, marking the conclusion of our 4-day tour Tangier to Marrakech.
